All of our editing services are booked through a sample edit, allowing us to ensure the right fit for your manuscript and your voice. Sensitivity readings are the exception and can be requested directly without a sample.
Developmental Editing
Developmental editing is an intensive, hands-on service designed to actively shape your manuscript. It includes two full read-throughs, heavy in-line commentary throughout the manuscript, a comprehensive developmental report, and a detailed editorial letter addressing structure, pacing, character development, and overall cohesion. Authors receive up to 30 days of follow-up support by email for questions and clarification after delivery.

Line/Copy Editing
Line and copy editing are offered as a combined service completed in two distinct passes. The line edit focuses on refining prose at the sentence level—improving clarity, flow, voice, and rhythm—while the copy edit ensures technical accuracy and consistency using The Chicago Manual of Style (18th ed.), Merriam-Webster, and standard usage guides. All edits are completed in Microsoft Word using tracked changes. Deliverables include an editorial letter and a style sheet to support consistency throughout the manuscript.

Sensitivity Reading
Our sensitivity reading service provides thoughtful, informed feedback on representation and cultural accuracy for Black, Arab, Muslim, Hijabi, Hispanic, neurodivergent, disabled, and mental health experiences. The manuscript is reviewed with in-line commentary, and a detailed editorial letter highlights areas for consideration, ensuring respectful and authentic portrayal while maintaining the author’s voice.

Manuscript Evaluation
A manuscript evaluation provides big-picture, objective feedback on your manuscript without the depth or cost of a full developmental edit. The manuscript is read once and includes light in-line comments and a detailed editorial letter (5+ pages) addressing strengths and key areas for revision. Authors may email with follow-up questions within 15 days of delivery.

Proofreading
Proofreading is the final quality-control step after all other editing has been completed, catching any remaining errors before publication. The manuscript must be fully formatted, and the entire book—including front and back matter—is read from start to finish to ensure a polished, professional final product.

ARC Management & Distribution
Our ARC (Advance Reader Copy) service runs a four-week campaign through our private Olive Press influencer circle—a Discord community of over 200 vetted bookish influencers. We coordinate ARC requests and distribution, then provide a comprehensive report at the end of the campaign detailing who requested and reviewed the book, along with average ratings and feedback to inform your launch strategy.
